Dear friends of Columbia Greenhouse,
The Board of Trustees is pleased to introduce Ms. Renee Mease who will be joining our community as of July 1, 2012 as the new Director of Columbia Greenhouse Nursery School.
Renee is a committed educator with more than 22 years of experience in early childhood education. She began her career as a teacher in Reading, Pennsylvania. From there she helped found an early childcare and education program that she subsequently directed for 11 years. Renee moved to New York City in 2003 and worked for five years as the Director of Education for a social service organization in Harlem, Broadway Housing Communities. During that time, Renee earned a master’s degree in early childhood leadership at Bank Street College of Education. For the past five years, Renee has worked as the Director of Admissions at All Soul’s Nursery School. In this role, she worked closely with the Director of All Souls and participated in many aspects of school management including ex-missions and accreditation.
Renee has been an active member of the early childhood professional community throughout her career. She has served as Chairperson and President of New York City Association for the Education of Young Children (NYCAEYC) and is a current member of the governing board of New York State Association for the Education of Young Children (NYSAEYC).
Renee is an extraordinary match for the Columbia Greenhouse community. Aside from her outstanding credentials and experience, Renee is a true advocate for children and their families. Sensitive and empathic, Renee is committed to progressive education and the wonderful way this approach allows children to grow and develop. A true believer in mentoring, Renee is enthusiastic about working with the Greenhouse team, providing mentoring and support to faculty and staff.
We welcome Renee to our community. We know she will build on Vicki’s excellent work in her role as the new Director. We invite you to welcome Renee along with us as we embark on this new phase of Columbia Greenhouse’s history.
